Medical school students need to learn and practice some clinical skills to prepare their competence before entering clinical rotation as a part of their education process before they become real doctor. Medical school is nowadays convinced that students should master the skills before they make contact with real patients. To achieve this objective an early skills training, therefore, is needed. Skills Laboratory allows students to learn and practice their clinical skills.
In most infection cases, the causative organisms cannot be identified by clinical presentation only. Gram stain of collected specimens may help:
1. Determine the adequacy of the specimen for culture
2. Make a presumptive etiologic diagnosis and early clinical decisions
3. Help make accurate interpretation of culture results
4. Provide a better insight into the nature of the current infection
The Gram stain is the most commonly used stain in the clinical microbiology laboratory. Student will learn how to perform Gram staining by viewing video that have been provided and reviewing modul containing teorietical materials and what to report.
