The course is prepared for the first year undergraduate students at the Faculty of Biology. This course is compulsory for all students and is offered in every odd semester. The course is intended to improve students’ knowledge and skill in using English as a second language, especially in the field of Biology.

The objective of this course is to facilitate students’ improvement of their skills in using English in a scientific communication, specifically by:

- Familiarizing students with the terminologies in biology;

- Enabling students to communicate their English (orally and in writing) effectively, presenting arguments, and opinions in a scientific context;

- Introducing the skills of note-taking, paraphrasing, summarizing, report writing, reading graphs and charts, and describing processes;

- Improving students’ ability to understand and extract information from biology-related texts.
