DMT 2023-2024

This course focuses on the usage of qualitative and quantitative models and techniques for decision making. In the first half of semester, the course focuses on conceptual foundations and the usage of qualitative techniques of decision making. Topics highlights include decision making in public policy, decision making models and processes, reflective practice analysis in decision making, and qualitative techniques of decision making. In the second half of semester, the course focuses on the usage of essential quantitative methods and tools for effective decision making. Topics include statistical data analysis, basics of descriptive statistics, inferential statistics for decision making, analytical hierarchy process, public investment feasibility, and projects for public utilities. The course is designed to use ‘learning by doing’ as well as application and solution oriented. Analytical techniques and computer packages will be used to solve problems faced by managers in different decision contexts. Students will be facilitated to study the course topics more thoroughly by performing group assignments which cover reading activities, class exercises, and group presentation. Lecture materials are delivered interactively using Power Point slides (PPT) prepared by the lecturers. All PPT slides are to be presented in eLOK UGM.
